NURS 7406 Advanced Principles of Anesthesia Practice II

This course provides an in-depth study of the evaluation and anesthesia management of select patient populations. Students build upon previous foundational and advanced anesthesia knowledge to build an evidence-based practice for cardiothoracic, vascular, neurosurgical, and select specialty patient populations across the lifespan. This course builds upon basic principles of anesthesia delivery to focus on unique patient populations with special needs: cardiothoracic, vascular, and neurosurgical patients. Select specialty anesthetic situations are also introduced. Focus is on advanced assessment techniques, preparation of unique anesthetizing environments, and advanced equipment specific to cardiothoracic, vascular, and neurosurgical patients. Specialty anesthesia and non-operating room anesthetics are explored. Content reinforces imaging and ultrasound techniques.
