NURS 7211 Basic Principles of Anesthesia Practice and Simulation I
This course is the first of a two-part sequence that introduces the student to perioperative processes and the nursing practice of anesthesiology. Opportunities are provided for application to practice through simulation. This course will introduce the student to the foundations of anesthesia practice, including perioperative processes, roles, and anesthesia delivery systems. The continuum of anesthesia from sedation to general anesthesia is explored. Anesthesia from the patient’s perspective is introduced. The course is presented in the context of equitable and ethical care, patient safety, and quality.
