NURS 7405 Advanced Principles of Anesthesia Practice I

This course provides an in-depth study of the evaluation and anesthesia management of select patient populations. Students build upon previous foundational anesthesia knowledge to build an evidence-based practice for parturients, pediatric patients, and trauma across the lifespan. This course builds upon basic principles of anesthesia delivery to focus on unique patient populations with special needs: parturients, pediatric patients, and trauma patients. Focus is on advanced assessment techniques, preparation of unique anesthetizing environments, advanced equipment specific to obstetrical, pediatric, and trauma patients, and special safety concerns. Content reinforces advanced airway management techniques. Safety, risk reduction, and ethics are reinforced.
