NURS 7306 Clinical Residency II
This course is the second of a six-sequence residency in which students apply theory to practice. The course includes group discussions, simulation, and in-hospital experiences. Building on the skills learned in Clinical Residency I, continued emphasis is on patient safety and vigilance while gaining experience in providing culturally competent care throughout the perianesthesia continuum, interpersonal communication, and integration of critical and reflective thinking. This residency course provides students with an opportunity to incorporate evidence-based practices in the clinical environment. Students are provided experiential learning through the construction of anesthesia care plans and the bridging of skills and knowledge learned in the didactic curriculum. Each residency experience is designed to build upon prior didactic and clinical learning. The second residency course places an emphasis on clinical concepts specific to obstetrical anesthesia, pediatric anesthesia, trauma care, pain management, and advanced airway management.
