RELS 3343 Sacred Spaces: Christian and Comparative Perspectives

This course examines the construction of sacred space in the religious consciousness of individuals and societies. Students will be introduced to theoretical, literary, and artistic approaches and will consider how they shed light on the nature and function of sacred space. Examples will be drawn from a variety of religious traditions, both past and present, with particular attention to sacred space in the Roman Catholic tradition.
