EDUC 3380 Instructional Design and Classroom Management

Instructional Design and Classroom Management is the first of the pedagogy courses in the professional development sequence of the Education Minor, preparing candidates for secondary and all-level teacher certification.  This course, an introduction to teaching secondary students, is focused on classroom community-building and management strategies and instructional design.  The content encompasses knowledge and skills related to the professional dispositions of teaching including: commitment and responsibility to teaching, content and pedagogical preparation, professional presence and demeanor, communication skills, and authentic engagement.  In addition to the coursework, candidates must complete a minimum of twenty hours of guided field experience in assigned classrooms corresponding with their intended certification.  This professional development course requires admission to the Teacher Certification Program.
