COMM 3310 Theories of Communication

This course surveys various theoretical analyses of human and mass communication processes. The course focuses on two major approaches to studying communication: social sciences and cultural studies. The social scientific approach deals with the transmission and processing of information in media and its effects on human interaction. The cultural studies approach explores the meaning-sharing of media texts in everyday life. This course puts these two distinct approaches together into dynamic dialogues.
