OPT 315 Genomics Medicine
This course will review the mechanisms governing gene expression and how those may be altered during disease. The most current advances in translational research; including the genetic tests taht are used for the diagnosis of disease, disease management or risk assessment, gene and stem cell-based novel therapies will be emphasized with focus on ocular disease. The ethical, legal, and social implications (ELSI) associate to the release of patient's genetic information will also be discussed.
