School of Applied Sciences

The School of Applied Sciences offers courses during the day, evening, weekend, and online in an accelerated format. While most courses are offered online, on-ground course work is offered at five learning centers in San Antonio and in Corpus Christi, Texas .  The School of Applied Studies also offers Graduate courses in the evenings and weekends in San Antonio and Corpus Christ. In addition to the on-ground locations, all graduate programs are offered online.  And many health science programs afford laboratory and clinical experiences located throughout San Antonio and the region.

The School of Applied Sciences undergraduate and graduate courses are offered in an eight-week accelerated format during six terms a year. In the undergraduate programs, students can earn up to 36 hours of credit per year by attending two classes each term. Courses are offered in a variety of formats. Some are offered two days per weekday evening on a Monday-Wednesday or Tuesday-Thursday schedule. Our daytime and Saturday blended course format requires students attend class just two hours per week with the remainder of the work being done online. Some centers also offer courses just one night per week for four hours. Online courses are asynchronous, allowing the student maximum flexibility throughout the week.

The School of Applied Sciences is the home of several military-centric program offerings and collaborations.  These offerings are delivered online, on-ground, and in select course via an online accelerated format.  Service-specific collaborations include GoArmyEd, Navy College Program Distance Learning Program (NCPDLP), and the Air University Associates-to-Baccalaureate Cooperative (AU-ABC).  The University of the Incarnate Word is a member of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges.  And collaborations with the Defense Health Agency’s Medical Education and Training Campus, the US Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine, the US Army Academy of Health Sciences, the US Navy Medicine Operational Training Center, and the College of Allied Health Sciences at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences provide required and voluntary education degree completion opportunities in a variety of programmatically accredited allied health care/science and leadership disciplines.
