PSYC 3465 Drug Use Prevention and Interventions
In this four-credit course, students explore various types of alcohol, tobacco, and drug-abuse prevention and ATOD psychotherapies, and students learn how these are integrated into a comprehensive community approach to reduce drug addiction. Within a social justice framework, ATOD abuse and dependence as a risk factor for other social problems and implications for policy change. Substantial field work is a required part of this course. This course meets the Texas Certification Board of Addiction Professionals' prerequisites for certification as a 'Certified Prevention Specialist' by providing the student with half of the 100 required hours in ATOD prevention training.
