ENGL ENGL 3315 The Catholic Imagination Seminar

This seminar offers a select survey of the fine arts through the lens of the Catholic Imagination. Drawing on themes such as the synthesis of faith and reason, visions of death and the afterlife, and the sacramentality of ordinary life, students will appraise how Catholic thought has shaped creative expression across time. The course will explore how this Imagination has informed various creative fields of expression, such as visual art, prose, poetry, music, playwriting, and film. The seminar culminates in a final project—both analytical and creative—that demonstrates an informed and original encounter with the Catholic Imagination.
