PHAR 3240 Introductory Pharmaceutics and Liquid Dosage Forms
This course introduces the scientific and practical foundations of liquid dosage form design, formulation, and evaluation. Building on general and organic chemistry, students examine how the inherent physicochemical characteristics of drug molecules influence the preparation, stability, and performance of non-sterile liquid pharmaceutical dosage forms. Instruction covers the design and evaluation of solutions, suspensions, and emulsions, with an emphasis on excipient and vehicle selection, compounding practices, and strategies for ensuring the safe and effective formulation of products.
