Community Service Requirement
At the University of the Incarnate Word, students pursuing a bachelor's degree must complete 45 clock hours of non-credit community service, while associate degree students are required to complete 22 hours. To meet this requirement, students can volunteer through the UIW Give Pulse platform https://uiw.givepulse.com/group/167422-University-of-the-Incarnate-Word, enroll in service-learning courses, or a combination of both.
It is advised that students consult their academic advisors to discuss their options early on and complete their community service hours before their junior year. Documentation of community service hours is required by the first week of the final semester before graduation. The Ettling Center for Civic Leadership and Sustainability is the campus office dedicated to supporting and facilitating the university's community service efforts. They are available to assist students in identifying, documenting, and fulfilling their community service requirements. The Ettling Center can be found in room 158 of the Columkille Administration Building on the Broadway campus. If you need to contact them, you can do so by phone at (210) 283-6423 or by email at ccl@uiwtx.edu.
