Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology
The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree program is designed for individuals interested in promoting positive exercise, physical activity, and health and wellness behaviors in children and adults. Students may choose either the Coaching and Leadership or Exercise Science concentration; the degree program requires a minimum of 120 credit hours to complete.

Coaching and Leadership Concentration
The Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology—Coaching & Leadership concentration is designed to help students develop, implement, and provide leadership to a variety of different coaching programs. The curriculum emphasizes the overall development of athletes and working in diverse athletic and sport settings. Students will learn the unique challenges of administering and interacting with athletes in youth, recreational, secondary, university, and professional sport programs.

Electives should be taken to satisfy the 120 credit hour program requirement. A minor is not required for Coaching and Leadership, however students may complete a minor of their choice. Some examples include a Sport Management Minor with 6 additional credit hours, a Nutrition Minor with 9 additional credit hours, or a Psychology Minor with 12 additional credit hours.

Exercise Science Concentration
Students who choose the BS Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science must maintain a 2.75 GPA to remain in the program. The Kinesiology concentration in Exercise Science prepares students to pursue careers in the fitness industry as well as graduate education in exercise science, pre-professional, or allied health fields. Graduates also acquire the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to become a certified fitness instructor, personal trainer, and/or strength and conditioning specialist. Students in the Exercise Science concentration are prepared to become professionals who make a difference in the lives of others through assessing, designing, and implementing physical activity and fitness programs and interventions for human performance. Coursework and fieldwork give students training and hands-on experiences needed to evaluate health behaviors and risk factors, conduct fitness assessments, write exercise prescriptions, and successfully promote the adoption and maintenance of a healthy lifestyle.
