MATH 1304L College Algebra with Lab
Math 1304L is a three credit-hour course that meets three hours per week in a classroom setting plus a one-hour laboratory for supplemental instruction. It is an entry-level course focusing on basic algebra concepts and then essential college-level algebraic topics. Initially, through appropriate adaptive software, coursework is dedicated to developing fluency, confidence and competence in those mathematical skills associated with beginning college mathematics. The student will be introduced to the vocabulary, notation, basic algebraic operations, and algebraic
approach to problem solving. College level topics will be taken from but not limited to the real number system, equations and inequalities, functions and their graphs, and polynomial and rational functions. Assessment and teaching strategies will include group activities, problem sets, written examinations, and classroom discourse. Technology for this course will include the use of graphing calculators or computer emulators.
