OTD 6322 Research II: Quantitative and Qualitative Methods

Quantitative and qualitative design and research methods are developed with student groups drafting a research proposal to include abstract, introduction, literature review, and methodology. Certification in research ethics training and Institutional Review Board (IRB) policies are required for human subject research, educational research, or research related to population health. Students develop skills in the selection, application, and interpretation of basic descriptive, correlational, and inferential quantitative statistics. Qualitative methods for coding, analyzing, and synthesizing qualitative data are developed. Students learn interview skills and focus group data collection methodologies. Analysis and synthesis of qualitative research are incorporated into a mixed-method study for evidence-based practice. Interpretation of criterion-referenced and norm-referenced standardized testing for sampling is required.
