CRJU 4490 Drug Use Prevention and Interventions

Students explore various types of drug abuse prevention and psychotherapies, and learn how these are integrated into a comprehensive community approach to reduce drug addiction.  Within the context of a social justice framework, students explore drug abuse and dependence as a risk factor for other social problems and implications for policy change. This course meets the Texas Certification Board of Addition Professionals' prerequisites for certification as a 'Certified Prevention Specialist' by providing the student with half of the 100 required hours in ATOD prevention training.  Cross-listed with PSYC 4490 Drug Use Prevention and Criminal Justice Research and Internship.
