VISC 3212 Neuroscience of the Visual System

This course will cover in the neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, functional neuroscience and basic pathophysiology of the visual system. Areas of emphasis will include anatomy and histology of the retina, optic nerve and tract, primary visual cortex, receptive fields, visual resolution, binocularity, conjugate eye movements, color vision and stereopsis. Lastly, the course will present the changes in neuronal aspects of the visual system that lead to abnormality and loss of visual function.
